New Contact section
I think I can consider the Contact section as completed.
Yes, I have a new section on my website. The Contact section.
I thought it would be an easy and fast page. And it was easy, but I tend to overcomplicate things.
First, I had to decide where and how to create the new section. The blog has its own container, but this is too much for a static section, maybe the Home page could load the Contact section and show/hide it with JavaScript. Or I could have a file called contact.html, but… that would look different from the blog section. In the end, I thought the most logical approach would be to have a folder called contact and an index.html there containing the proper content.
And it worked — well, more or less. I had to adjust several things such as paths and CSS, but eventually it worked.
But it was not over yet. I mean, the style was fixed and all looked good, but the important thing is to add the social media I use. Which is a problem, because even though I have some social media accounts, I don’t actually use them. I have a Facebook account, but I don’t even check it. I have a LinkedIn account that I check sometimes (OK, I’m adding this one, at least it looks professional). I also have a Twitter account (let’s be honest, nobody calls it X) that I check regularly, but only as a reader. I don’t interact with others.
Then I thought: I have a domain, I definitely should have an e-mail there using that domain.
Porkbun lets you use up to 20 redirections to other emails. So I can add some redirections to my personal Gmail account.
But, if I answer, the recipient will see my Gmail account that is behind it. So, I read some documentation online and I created an account on mailjet.com, configured several things on this website, my personal Gmail account and the DNS records of my domain and now I can send mail using my domain.
The main issue with that is that my name does not appear to the recipient and the email is received as if it were a newsletter. I guess I would have to set up my own mail server if I want those things.
Finally, there is my Bluesky account. I had a regular account that ended with .bsky.social, but it seems pretty easy to change the handle (username) to @misello.net.
